Abstract
This paper presents the relevance of the values and virtues in economic activity. To achieve this goal, it is proposed begin from the characteristics and consequences of the crisis and confront them with the assumptions that has assumed by the free-market model for its operation. This work finalizes highlighting the role can play the values and virtues in the evolution of economic activity; exposing as example, the role played by these elements in the economic experience of the Italian northeast.
