Abstract

When the contemporary historian or anthropologist confronts Andean society, they usually ask themselves initially about the changes that occurred in it as a result of the Spanish invasion, and from then to the present. More recently, an apparently opposite and actually complementary question has entered the discussion: to what extent is there Andean continuity, below and above the changes introduced since the 16th century? I would like to begin this brief note on some forms of Andean resistance, specifying that when speaking of resistance I do not mean to refer only to the armed rebellions that have motivated most of the studies around it; I prefer to look for indicators of the other forms of consensual or consensual resistance, which can be understood in their confrontation with Western pressure.
