Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on the perception of traffic and the representations of Mexico City through radio discourse and the so-called Red Vial. This work is part of an investigation on the social meaning of the media and on the formation of public opinion in the process of receiving the radio message, in particular of the so-called "public opinion" programs. Our reflection is part of the recent concerns of sociologists and anthropologists to understand the mega city, as a complex object that already has very little in common with what, broadly speaking, we can call the modern "industrial city" of the last century.
