La “Medicina psicosomática” de Rubén Ramírez Pane: Su relevancia para la psicología en el Paraguay

Rubén Ramírez Pane (1920-2004) fue un médico paraguayo que desempeñó variadas funciones profesionales, entre ellas la diplomacia y la política, además de la actividad médica. Escribió numerosas obras, entre las que se encuentra Medicina psicosomática, publicada en 1975. El libro fue utilizado en los cursos del doctorado en Psicología de la Universidad Nacional de Asunción. Su contenido abarca una amplia variedad de tópicos que permiten esclarecer los intereses que guiaron a los autores de textos psicológicos en los comienzos de la etapa universitaria y profesional en el Paraguay. Este artículo puntualiza el marco intelectual que dio origen al libro de Ramírez Pane, describe la temática y las influencias teóricas plasmadas en él y evalúa su relevancia general para el desarrollo de la psicología en este país. Se parte de un análisis de fuentes primarias pertinentes al tema estudiado. El trabajo busca ser una contribución al conocimiento de la historia de la psicología en Paraguay en el período universitario y profesional.
