Abstract

The crisis of the 1930s is an interesting gateway to the study of the Peruvian 20th century to the extent that in times of crisis, societies reveal themselves and show their internal tensions. Among the many aspects that emerged to the surface in the hectic years 1930-1933 is that of regional differences, the issue that became current after several decades of latency, motivating a vigorous provincial reaction that Jorge Basadre called in Peru: Problem and Possibility "The subversion of the Provinces".
