Abstract

The IPA has been founded in 1968 by the Bishops and Prelates of seven ecclesiastical jurisdictions: Cusco, Puno, Abancay, Juli, Ayaviri, Sicuani and Chuquibambilla. The idea had arisen since 1966 and the Archbishop of Cusco, Monsignor Ricardo Durand Flores obtained from the German Catholic Church, through the organization Adveniat, the necessary budget to carry out the courses and the investigations prior to the elaboration of lines of pastoral action. for an Evangelization that respects and promotes the cultural values ​​of the Aymara and Quechua peasant people of the southern Andean region of Peru. The American Missionary Society (Maryknoll Fathers) also provided significant initial financial support.
