Abstract

I believe that this is an important book, which should be read carefully, because it marks an original path for interdisciplinary research on the management, use and conflicts of water in Peru throughout the 20th century. In addition, I think that thanks to this effort by María Teresa Oré, new research possibilities are opened up that will allow us to deepen our knowledge of the technical and social transformations that take place in a canal -in this case, that of La Achiracana del Inca, in the Ica Valley-, when landowners, indigenous people and the state generate a dynamic of cooperation and conflict for the administration of the hydraulic infrastructure and the distribution of the water resource.
