Abstract

This article seeks to investigate the interaction between the rural Cusco society, the urban society and the foreigners who arrive in Cusco. We analyze some common ideas about Andean culture: the discourses that have been built around it, in common sense or in academic disciplines. Most of our field data comes from the province of Quispicanchis, in particular from the district of Ocongate.
