Abstract

For more than half a century, the study of the mass media and their role in modern society has drawn the attention of researchers, politicians and intellectuals from all over the world. The beginnings go back to the time when radio, cinema and, above all, television reached unexpected levels of mass and audience, shortly after making their appearance in Europe and North America. The audiovisual phenomenon surprised a society eager for information and spectacularization, which is nothing more than seeing life and seeing oneself as a reflection in a mirror to better understand who we are and where we live.
