Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present a comparison of the structure of the peasant economy in modern and traditional regions. Some of the most important changes observed in the way families organize their productivity activity and in the markets in which families interact are highlighted. There are several works that describe the peasant economy in communities of the Peruvian highlands, but the previous works are based on samples taken in traditional regions or in modern regions, or that combine communities of modern regions, or that combine communities of modern and traditional regions.
