Abstract

The old rhetoric of the colonial era comprised various historical genres, which children of their time, have now perished: the Chronology, the Chronicles, the Annals, the Memoirs, the Lives (old and rare name of the biography) and the "Relationships" . The latter, the "Relationships", were intended to be the faithful narration of a great event, of a memorable fact in the life of a city, which deserved to be perpetuated for the knowledge of future generations. The object of the "Relationships" was the historical description of a unique event, a celebration, a party, which happened in a very short time (we could say that in the midst of the rhetorical artifice what was intended was a synchronous discourse); the apprehension of a singular event, purely eventional, limited to the shortest duration, to a contemporary here and now of the author.
