Abstract

Months of November, December, January, February, March, at the time of POQOY: i.e. growth and maturation of plants. In times of drought, the peasants are alarmed. They bring children together. The children go through the streets in groups; they kneel at the doors of shops, houses, ask for candles. As the group advances, with the candles lit, the volume grows as the children join the ranks. The oldest of them carries a cross, and they shout loudly: Unuykita, paraykita, apachimuy, Señor.
