Abstract

The "Andrés Avelino Cáceres" region is one of the regions with the highest degree of political violence on the map of the Peruvian war. The reason probably lies in its strategic importance, both from an economic and military point of view, as it is the gateway to the capital of the republic. In recent years, Sendero Luminoso has been concentrating its work here, forcing the forces of order to locate this regional space as an important front that cannot be lost because, in the words of General(r) Mercado Jarrín, "... whoever dominates the central mountain range dominates the terrestrial heart and whoever dominates the terrestrial heart and whoever dominates the terrestrial heart dominates Peru..."
