Abstract

Since the assumption to power of the new democratic government of Hernán Siles, in October 1982, there has been much talk of a new popular literacy and education campaign. The critical economic and political circumstances that were constantly shaking the new government during its almost three years in power did not allow any massive campaign to be carried out. But a specialized office was set up, called SENALEP (National Literacy and Popular Education Service), which systematized a new model of popular intercultural education, produced a series of innovative materials, and promoted various educational experiences within this new frame of reference. .
