Abstract

To better focus the issue of gender and its effects in our context in the Andean world, it is necessary to engage in a broader interdisciplinary and multicultural conversation around the particularities of the issue in this reality. Numerous investigations and experiences raise its problems and possibilities. At the same time, it is necessary to point out the existing opportunities, and to be created, to engage in a dialogue on the emerging presence of gender as a sociocultural factor typical of this region. How is its emergence explained within the complexity of our fragmented and conflictive social fabric? Is it a foreign idea imported from outside?
