Abstract

More than a year ago, when we thought of dedicating an issue of Allpanchis to the subject of "Andean culture", we actually intended to address a more specific problem than that expressed in such a title. In effect, it was a question of confronting popular peasant culture, the material and mental world of the Quechua and Aymara speakers, with the changes that the development of capitalism inevitably brought about in rural spaces: at least, in chronological terms, the subject should limited to recent dates that, as we expressly said, could be the last fifty years.
