Abstract

I present in these pages a chapter of "The religious world of Urcos", a work that will appear soon and that is the result of the first systematic research on peasant religiosity, organized by the Andean Pastoral Institute (IPA) of Cuzco. The pilot parish of Urcos comprises three districts of the population of Quispicanchis and had a population of 17,313 inhabitants in the last census. To investigate it, five towns were chosen within it to represent five levels of modernization and, therefore, of religiosity.
