Attachment is a fundamental human need that influences individual development and interpersonal relationships. Accordingly, this study aims to present a literature review on the relationship between attachment and abandonment in children and adolescents. The literature search was carried out in SciELO, La Referencia, and Google Scholar, resulting in a total of 30 documents, including research articles and theses. Regarding the relationship between attachment styles and institutio-nalization, the findings reveal a clear differentiation among secure, disorganized, insecure-avoidant, and ambivalent attachment types.
