Abstract

Luis Valcárcel had a fundamental role in what has been called "the Cusco school" or "Cusco indigenism". Probably the most prestigious intellectual in Cusco, (although born in Moquegua), Valcárcel was not only the most active cultural promoter in the region, but also a guide for the young generations of Cusco. His name and action are associated with the most important ideological, university and political renewal of Cusco in this century.
