Abstract

It is often stated that the quality of education must be understood as the relevance of educational systems to respond to socio-cultural demands, that is, to produce significant learning capable of favoring the comprehensive development of peoples. It also insists that education must enable the growth of national cultures. Respect for the historical and social reality of each culture, having the real possibilities of confronting new values and creating new vital syntheses, as well as constituting a fundamental right, is a challenge for any educational action that claims to be liberating, because "the vocation of every culture is to lead to freedom... what is essential is that our reflection on culture involves consideration of socio-political-economic aspects..." (Cabrerizo, 1987).
