Abstract

We consider globalism a critical problem due to its human, and consequently, social and educational effects. Faced with the opposition to the local, we propose to rely on the personal spirit and the community, as a welcoming environment for it, to solve the crisis. To give meaning to this position, the question of human dignity is raised with reference to the spirit of individuals. In order to concretize such an approach, we discuss the spirituality of cultural subjects in art, science, and religion. As the central axis of the manuscript, the structure and functioning of spirituality in human beings—both men and women—is made understandable, considering human subjectivity. From the self, the interaction between the individual and the community is discussed. Derived from the foregoing, pedagogical implications are brought up to qualify education.
